New interview!! BCN Play 08 (UPF)

The UPF (Pompeu Fabra University of Catalonia) is planning BCN Play 08, a meeting point for training, socializing and learning about this growing audiovisual and cultural industry.

They also want to promote the entrepreneurial spirit on their students, and as a first move they have published an Evolution Dreams Studio interview which you can read here.

We want to thank you UPF and BCN Play 08 for choosing us for this interview.

Last Planet Delta screenshots

These are the last screenshots that we are going to publish before the release of the game.

We have redesigned all the maps of the game. The first screen is the global map and the second screen is one of the stage maps that show the progression of the player.

We hope you like them :)

New screenshots of Planet Delta: A Journey to the Core

The next screenshots of the game are from an almost finished version. Maybe there will be some minor postproduction adjusting on the color or the brightness.

We have selected one screenshot representing each stage of the game and another one for the main menu. It will only remain some screenshots of the maps.

Evolution Dreams Studio and the press (II): VD, supplement of the Spanish newspaper La razón

After the success on the Bancaja Entrepreneurs Awards, VD was interested in our project and the people behind it.

VD published an article with an interview and some info about our work and the casual games market.

They also made this very funny illustration:

Evolution Dreams Studio and the press (I): EDGE magazine (Spanish Edition)

Thanks to DOID there was a small article concerning us on the april issue of the EDGE magazine.

They noticed our success in the Bancaja Entrepreneurs Awards, enclosing a screenshot of Planet Delta: A Journey to the Core and the URL of our Spanish blog.

We are very proud and happy about the impact of our work in the national media: blogs, forums and press. We are grateful for all the support.

The international press releases… will be coming soon.

Mobile World Congress 2008

Last February we were represented by DOID (Digital Interactive Entertainment Association of Spain) in the Mobile World Congress. Other represented associates were: Abylight, Exelweiss, Uc Games, Mayhem Project, Devilish Games, Nerlaska and the game division of Grupo Zed.

We showed the very first trailer of Planet Delta: A Journey to the Core. It was based on a preliminary version of the game (40-50%).

The reason to go to a mobile congress was, and is, our desire to port this game to mobile devices. It also was an opportunity to show the game and talk to people on this business.

And here it is, the trailer:

It will be funny to compare it with the final trailer that we are preparing.

Winners of the XIII Bancaja Young Entrepreneurs Awards

We won the XIII (2007) edition of the Bancaja Young Entrepreneurs Awards, a Spanish bank contest. The award category was Projects and it was rewarded with 5.000 €.

It was not a big amount of money but it represented that we were doing something well, and it was a support to get the financing we needed.

There was a presentation on the 28th of February that gathered all the prize-winning projects together, and it was a nice day as we met a lot of interesting people and shared our happiness with them.

After being finalists on the previous contest, this was a big step for us and the most important milestone until now.

Finalists on the 2007 Entrepreneurs Award of Caixa Manresa

We have been working in a business plan since May of 2007, when we started to think about setting up a developer studio.

That summer we sent an early version of the plan to the 2007 Entrepreneurs Award of Caixa Manresa, a bank from Catalonia, and achieved to reach its final round.

In this final round we had to defend our project with eight other finalists. We tried our best but we could not win the 6.000 € award.

The price was interesting but the most important to us was the fact of being finalists in such an important contest, especially because we were the only not started-up business and also because of the industry we belong to. Unfortunately in Spain, make a living developing games is not well-considered yet.

This was our first big milestone in the business side of the whole project.

Old news

For the next two weeks we will post some translations of the most interesting news published in the Spanish blog since we started it last summer.

Most of them talk about important milestones of our recent history among other things like awards, new projects and so on.

After this group of posts we will continue with new contents and recent news.

Planet Delta: A Journey to the Core

Planet Delta: A Journey to the Core is a project we started on last summer that would become soon our first released game.

The concept of this game was around for a lot time, and as we were working with some ideas, we finally decided to start with this one.

This game is a 3-match game but with some gameplay innovations like a “pinball control” and a lot of different elements.

The goal of game is to go through a planet from the surface to the core, so the art reflects the progress of the journey starting with mountains and forests and ending with the magma of the planet’s depths.

Some interesting features of the game are: dynamic music, choose your own progression, 4 different stages and more than 40 levels.

This is a screenshot of an intermediate level, as far from the surface as from the core.
