Avatar Quest: First screenshot

We are very near finishing the development of Avatar Quest, coming in a few weeks to Xbox Live Indie Games.

As you may know, the game is a remake of Runic Quest, but featuring Avatars, which is cool :D

The game is a puzzle game where you have to cross each level from bottom to top, walking over the Runes of the same color before the time runs out. There also special Runes with magic effects…

Here is the first screenshot, hope you like it. Although the game is nearly finished we haven’t changed all the graphic assets yet, and we are still working on adding some cool graphic stuff.

And one more thing, do you like this top-“front” view, or would you prefer a top-“behind” one? The second option is more usual, but we use this one to see a bit more the face/front of the avatar.

Awesome Xbox Live Indie Games Giveaway (extended)

Posted by Xavi Sanchez | December 29, 2009 | 26 Comments

As you may know, we are finishing 2 new developments, Avatar Quest and Pirate Mayhem, both to be released January 2010 on Xbox Live Indie Games. And we want to share our happiness giving away tons of tokens of our previous XBLIG: Words in a Word, Bomb Disposal Expert and Planet Delta.

But there is more, our friends of Ninja Fever (check out their Facebook page and follow them on Twitter), the developers of Dual Zone (watch the trailer), want to collaborate giving away some tokens as well in this Awesome Giveaway. Thank you guys!! :)

So, here is the deal, we have… 50 tokens to give away!! The biggest XBLIG giveaway of all time!! And we will be very happy with 50 more people playing, and we are sure enjoying our games too :)

The distribution of the 50 tokens will be this way:

This distribution may change in order to please the preferences of the winners.

Like our last huge giveaway, there are 4 categories with the next rules:

  1. First categoryOur Blog10 tokens: you only have to leave a comment on this post. You can also tell us which game/s would you prefer, but we can’t guarantee that if you win it will be the game you get.
  2. Second categoryYour Blog5 tokens: to enter you will have to write a post on your own blog, telling the world what you think about the trial of one of the games of the giveaway. It can be good or bad, but we ask for a reasoned opinion, not a single phrase like “the game rocks dude” :P The post must have a link to this one, so we can know it exists.
  3. Third categoryFacebook page10 tokens: become a fan and leave a comment on the post about this giveaway in the same Facebook page, not here. You can also tell us which game/s would you prefer, but we can’t guarantee that if you win it will be the game you get.
  4. Fourth categoryTwitter25 tokens: starting today and finishing on January 27th, every day or two we will give away a token of one of the games via Twitter. We will tweet some messages each day about the giveaway and you will have to follow us and retweet one of that messages to have a chance to win that day’s token.

The end date of all the draws will be on February 5th at 12 a.m. (GMT), and the winners will be published here and announced via message a few days later. The winners will have 3 days to claim their prize or the token will go to another one.

Anyone can participate in any category or all at the same time, but each person only can win 1 token.

We hope you like the giveaway and we wish you good luck!!

Words in a word on XBLIG updated!!

Posted by Xavi Sanchez | December 21, 2009 | No Comments

Finally the first update of Words in a Word is available on Xbox Live Indie Games.

The update fixes an on-line bug, changes the color of the selected letter (from grey to yellow), adds more entries to the scoreboards (now up to 50 entries), and, the most interesting feature, adds a real-time scoreboard in practice mode.

This new feature is really exciting as you can see in real-time how well/bad are you playing, compared to the best 50 on-line scores (local if you don’t have gold membership). As it seems to be a little difficult to play on-line matches if you don’t have friends, with the game purchased, to play with, this feature is an amazing way to keep you playing and trying to get into the 50 best scores.

Here is a screenshot that shows this new feature:

Pirate Mayhem on Xbox 360 full feature list

Posted by Xavi Sanchez | December 18, 2009 | No Comments

We are still working very hard on Pirate Mayhem Xbox 360 version. We already have shown a screenshot of the Xbox Live Indie Games version, and a comparative between versions, now is time to disclose the full list of features for this new version.

The main mode is like an arcade one, where you have to kill a certain number of enemies and buildings to win each level. There are 4 different stages, each one with 4 levels, and a final boss. So there are a total of 17 amazing levels (the Flash version only offers 13 levels, easier and shorter). Between levels you can buy new weapons/upgrades at the shop, and more lives and bombs.

But as we want to offer a whole new experience to Xbox 360 users, we are implementing a 2 player mode, to play with a friend all 17 levels of the game. We think this is an awesome addition to the game, which will bring tons of fun.

And there is a second amazing new feature, the survival mode, where you can play a level with no end, where lots of enemies will appear until they eventually kill you :P

Finally we can’t forget the new HD graphics, better music and sound quality and more immersion through the vibration system.

More screenshots to come next week ;)

Pirate Mayhem and (Avatar) Runic Quest coming January 2010 to XBLIG

Posted by Xavi Sanchez | December 11, 2009 | 1 Comment

We are working very hard on the new versions of Pirate Mayhem and Runic Quest, and as we are improving and adding new features, both developments will last a few more weeks.

We are redesigning some levels of Pirate Mayhem to fit the safe area of the resolution, and designing new ones. Next week we will disclose the full features list with nice additions :)

We are also improving Runic Quest, trying to add cool graphics effects, and implementing a new and great feature… Avatars!! We want to change the main character of the game to the player’s Avatar, which would be cool!

Finally, we uploaded yesterday a new version to peer review of Words in a Word on Xbox Live Indie Games. As soon as this new version is available we will tell you the changes.
